The Noun - Number -எண் 

Numbers are two 

1. Singular - ஒருமை 

A noun that denotes one person or thing is said to be in singular number 

அதாவது ஒரு நபர் அல்லது ஒரு பொருளை குறிப்பது 

Boy -சிறுவன் 

Leaf -இலை 

Cat -பூனை 

2. Plural - பன்மை 

A Noun that denotes more than one person or thing is said to be plural number 

அதாவது ஒன்றுக்கும் மேற்பட்ட நபரையோ பொருட்களையோ குறிப்பது 

உதாரணம் 

Boys -சிறுவர்கள் 

Leaves -இலைகள் 

Cats -பூனைகள் 

There are three ways of converting from a masculine noun into feminine noun.

A proper noun is the name of some particular person or place.

அதாவது குறிப்பிட்ட நபரையோ இடத்தையோ குறிப்பது

2. Common noun (பொதுபெயர்ச்சொல் ) (learn English through tamil)

A common noun is a name given in common to every person or thing of the same class or kind

அதாவது ஒரே இனத்தை பிரிவை செர்ந்தவரையோ , ஒரே வகையை சேர்ந்த பொருளையோ பொதுவாக அழைப்பது . 
  

Ex : flower , woman , their

3. Collective noun - (குழுப்பெயர்ச்சொல்  ) ( Learn English through tamil)

A collective noun is the name of a group of persons or things taken together and spoken of as one whole

(உதாரணம் )  A Family, An Army

நபர் அல்லது பொருட்களின் கூட்டத்தை குழுவாக அழைப்பது 

உதாரணம்  :

Crowd = மக்கள் கூட்டம் 
A Family = ஒரு குடும்பம் 

An Army = ஒரு ராணுவம் 

4. Abstract noun ( பண்பு பெயர்ச்சொல்)

An Abstract noun is the name of a quality action or state

அதாவது ஒரு பொருளின் தன்மையை செயலை நிலையை சொல்வது 

Quality :

              Kindness - அன்பு கனிந்த 

              Cleanliness - சுத்தமாக இருத்தல் 

Action :

              Theft = திருட்டு 

              Judgment = தீர்ப்பு 

State :

              Childhood = குழந்தைபருவம் 

              Slavery =   அடிமைத்தனம் 

5. MATERIAL NOUNS ( மூலபொருள் பெயர்ச்சொல் )

Material nouns are the names of materials of which the things are made

Silver              = வெள்ளி 

Marble      = சலவைக்கல் 

Clay         = களிமண்
